How does ProjectChef work?

Browse our vetted private chefs, pick one of their offerings (like a dinner party or weekly meal prep), choose your date and party size, and secure your booking with a deposit. Your chef confirms the menu and details, cooks in your kitchen, and cleans up โ€” you just enjoy the table.

What's the deposit and cancellation policy?

A 20% deposit secures your booking. You get free cancellation and a full refund of that deposit up to 48 hours before your event. The remaining balance is settled after your menu is confirmed โ€” no surprises.

How do credits and discounts work?

Create an account and you get 10% off your first order automatically at checkout. After that, you earn 3% back in credit on every booking, which applies toward future ones. Your balance shows on your account page.

Do I need an account to book?

Yes โ€” an account saves your bookings and credits, stores your card securely for faster rebooking (we never see your card number โ€” it's vaulted by Stripe), and unlocks the loyalty perks above. You create it right in the booking flow.

Can I change or reschedule my booking?

Absolutely. Reply to your confirmation email or contact us and we'll sort it out. Changes are easy up to 48 hours before your event.

Where do you operate?

We're launching in Washington DC, neighborhood by neighborhood. Enter your zip on the booking page to see the chefs who serve your area.

How do I join as a chef?

Apply at bookprojectchef.com/chefs. Our team reviews every application โ€” identity verification, reference checks, and a tasting โ€” and then invites you to build your public profile.

What does it cost me? What's the fee?

A flat 12.5% platform fee โ€” no hidden cuts and no pay-to-play placement. Tips are 100% yours.

Do I set my own rates and schedule?

Yes. You set your offerings, your per-guest pricing, the neighborhoods (zips) you serve, and your availability. You choose the gigs.

What if I don't have a food Instagram?

No problem โ€” you can upload your food photos directly to your profile in the chef portal, so hosts can see your dishes either way.

How and when do I get paid?

Payment setup happens after you're approved and your profile is live. You'll get paid out for confirmed bookings โ€” details are handled during onboarding.
